Meet our Teachers

David - Director of Studies

David has worked as an education director and teacher trainer in Eastern Europe, Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Kazakhastan. He studied English for his MA in Oxford and trained for his Diploma in Barcelona. He has been a journalist, publisher, hotel manager and fish farmer.

Lily - Senior Teacher and Activities Organiser

“In class I want you to enjoy your time and feel comfortable talking with other students, so that you use the language as much as possible and continually improve. I enjoy meeting students from all over the world as I also get to learn about different cultures.”

Before teaching in Portsmouth, Lily gained a BA (Hons) in Hispanic Studies and English from Birmingham, did her CELTA in Brighton and spent a year in Mexico.

Maimoona - Teacher

“I like students enjoying the interaction and exchange of cultures and traditions in a harmonious and relaxed atmosphere, using a common classroom language to communicate – and thus acquire proficiency in English!”

Maimoona holds a B.Sc, as well as a Trinity Cert (TESOL) from the University of Chichester. She has been studying for a PGCE in Primary Teaching through the University of Portsmouth.

Chris - Teacher

"Coming to Spinnaker College and learning English is all about having fun and learning to communicate. I encourage students to speak as much as possible and gain the confidence to speak their mind. In my class, if you're not laughing, you're not learning!"

Chris speaks French, Spanish and Italian and holds a BA (Hons) in Multilingual Studies from Royal Holloway, University of London. He has taught Spanish in Argentina and since gaining his TESOL Certificate in London, has been tutoring languages to 15-18 year olds in Southampton.

Corrina - Teacher

"Learning a new language is a big challenge, but it is also very satisfying. I want to help you get the most out of your time in England as you explore our language and culture."

Corrina has a BA hons in English Language and Linguistics from York University and a TESOL Certificate from Worthing. Since graduating she has worked in secondary schools and tutored English and Maths. She can speak Dutch and finds language fascinating.
