Speaking Everyday English
LEVELS 1 & 2
Students on our level one and two English speaking course develop and practice language useful for everyday conversations. They also engage in motivating communicative activities, useful for real life situations.
Many of the classes take place outside the school for genuine practical experience, and cover the following: Introductions - meeting people
- Shopping - deciding what to buy, comparing different brands
- Planning trips - finding out about places and buying tickets, directions, and hotel booking
- Exploring Portsmouth and British culture - museums and sights
- Telephoning, completing forms and documents
- Talking about where you are staying
- Describing and contrasting places students are from
- Comparing students' national traditions and cultural activities with those of Britain
Courses for Intermediate English Speakers
LEVELS 3 & 4
Designed for students wishing to further develop and broaden their English speaking skills, courses prepare them for taking an IELTS exam.

- Discussing jobs and careers

- Describing and comparing places and cultures
- Discussing modern technology, health and the environment
- Expressing degrees of agreement and disagreement

Upper Intermediate & Advanced Speaking Skills
LEVELS 5 & 6
The course is designed for those wishing to Take IELTS for entry to university and Higher Education. It is also suitable for those wishing to take other English tests or exams such as TOEIC, TOEFL and Cambridge ESOL.
These English speaking courses help develop fluency and accuracy with particular emphasis on the correct use of vocabulary, idiom and complex structures as well as pronunciation, intonation and phrasing.
