Happy Halloween!

Halloween is is a spooky time of year, but do you know what the history of Halloween is in the UK?  It comes from the phrase All Hallow Even – which is basically saying that it is the eve of All Hallows (Saints) Day) in the English Christian calendar. The Celts believed that evil spirits came in long hours of darkness and they would build bonfires to chase them away, particularly in Scotland and Ireland. Since the 19C Halloween has stirred up images of ghosts and witches!

We’ve holding a Halloween party for everyone this Friday, where you can spook each other – see below for details.

Student Events Coming Up…

Halloween Party  Friday 30th October

There’ll be spooky music, games and party food.  Come in your scariest Halloween costume (there’ll be a prize for the best one).
Time: 4.30pm-6pm 
Venue: Classroom 1 (by reception)

Afterwards we’ll all go to the ‘Spooky Space’ Fireworks display at Gunwharf Quays (6.30pm)

Fireworks   Thursday 5th November
If you miss the fireworks on the 30th then you’ll have another chance . Friday 30th October 2009

Adult ticket – free

Mamma Mia   Monday 9th November
If you’ve not yet seen the film (and even if you have) now is your chance.  You don’t have to be an ABBA fan to enjoy this feel-good film of the decade that will have you singing and clapping along. Now is the time to dress up in those 70’s flares and put on that sparkly make-up!
