Joke of the Month

An English teacher wrote these words on the whiteboard: "woman without her man is nothing". The teacher then asked the students to punctuate the words correctly.
The men wrote: "Woman, without her man, is nothing."
The women wrote: "Woman! Without her, man is nothing."

Student Articles

Arundel by Mansoor from United Arab Emirates
We went on a nice trip to Arundel with my classmates and with our teacher Mr. Paul - the best teacher ever!  Arundel is a historic town and it's not far away from Portsmouth - just half an hour by train. When we arrived we walked to Arundel Castle which I think is the biggest castle in the whole of Hampshire.  We looked around the castle and we saw some interesting things such as antique tools they had used in the past and some old clothes, etc. While we there we were starving so we went to the small town centre and we split into groups.  My group went to a nice Indian restaurant and as usual we had a wonderful chicken biryane and it was really delicious!  After that we met each other again in a lovely café near the river and we had some coffee and cake and this was my favourite part of the trip.  Then we went to a wonderful lake and we took some photos.  Finally we went back all happy to Portsmouth!

Bowling Trip by Khamis from United Arab Emirates
My friends and I from Spinnaker College had an exquisite afternoon playing Bowling at Bowlplex, Gunwharf .   The trip was led by two great teachers Paul and Lily, who treated us like friends not students. We reached the place and started the game which took about an hour.  We played in three groups to play on three lanes. With the passage of time, the competition began to intensify to win the game. In the end there were three winners, one for each lane.  We took some pictures together.  Personally it was wonderful afternoon with friends and teachers which brought us out of the study atmosphere.

My Sailing Trip in Portsmouth by Sara from Italy
Last Saturday I went sailing for the first time in a beautiful 10m sailboat with a crew of 5 English people. First we met at Gunwharf Quays and once there I realized that it wasn’t going to be a gentle sail, but there would be two races and I would be part of the crew! First we left from the quay towards Port Solent and once there we started the first race against another six boats. Unfortunately we lost the first race because we took the wrong direction, but we won the second one. I really enjoyed this experience because I really like all things related to the sea and I also got a tan!

How to act like a British RoyalThe Queen
The Royal Wedding is fast approaching so we thought we would give you a few tips on how to act like a British Royal. First you need to master the ‘royal wave’. This greeting requires minimal effort, try practising with your friends or get your teacher to demonstrate. Secondly it is important to have a stiff upper lip. This means to restrain from displaying any emotion in the face of adversity.  Finally you must own a fleet of corgis, a breed of dogs that have been favoured by the Royals for over 70 years.
