Southampton Trip by Nina from Germany
We started our trip to Southampton on a sunny Saturday morning. We took the train from Portsmouth & Southsea and just under an hour later we arrived in Southampton. First we went to some Titanic monuments and took some pictures then we had a nice coffee, tea and cake break. Then we had a nice time in the Art Museum and it was for free! Afterwards we walked along the old city wall to the Maritime museum. It is a really lovely tiny museum. It told the story about the Titanic it was very interesting because the Titanic set off from Southampton for its first and also final journey. After this we took a ferry to another part of Southampton. Here was the highlight of the trip! We arrived on a long pier and there was a very cute and tiny train which brought us to the end of the pier. Now we were starving! So we went directly to the next fish & chip restaurant! It was delicious! Then we went back all happy and contented home.
Trip to Winchester by Niloufar from Iran
We had a very nice trip to Winchester with one of our best teachers Lily, last Saturday. Winchester is a historic cathedral city and ancient capital of Wessex and the Kingdom of England. It is a country town of Hampshire, in South East England. Winchester is a great city, cultured and ancient. We started our tour in Winchester with a delicious breakfast. We had a tour which included the cathedral, nunnery and some important places such as the ‘Winchester Round Table’. We took lots of pictures and most of us went window shopping. Then, we had an Italian lunch together, except Ali who was starving and the waiter forgot him. Then he was just looking at our food. We came back happy to Portsmouth at 6pm.
Ancient Football – by our Advanced Class
The history of football dates back to the 16th century which is also known as the Tudor times. The game was played over two days and almost all of the men from the village would play at the same time. Tudor football was different to the modern version in many ways. For instance, there was no referee because there weren't any rules! The ball was made of a pig's bladder so it was very heavy in comparison to the modern one. The pitch was much bigger – as big as the distance between two villages! The winning team was the one that got the ball through the cemetery gates of the opposing team. Ancient football involved many injuries and even death. People still play a version of ancient football today on Shrove Tuesday.
Portsmouth Area by Orkan from Germany
After a successful lesson, everybody is looking for a place to relax.
In Portsmouth there are many places for everyone's mood. Want a walk in a garden of paradise? Then take a look in the Southsea Rock Gardens. There are also big meadows, to play around with the ball or just lie in the grass.
Of course there are many fantast
ic walks directly along the coast, miles of pure relaxation, sounds of the se a and many places to take time for yourself. The Commercial Road, with over 50 shops, is also just around the corner.
The central location of the Spinnaker College, enables to reach all these places in a short walk.
Idiom of the Month

April Fool’s Day

April Fool’s Day is celebrated on April 1st every year. On this day individuals try to play practical jokes or hoaxes on family, friends and co-workers. The jokes only last until noon, anyone after this time who tries to fool another person is then classed as the ‘April Fool’ themselves. Often TV shows, radio and celebrities participate; some notable hoaxes have been The One Show reporting a piece on ‘Cloned Unicorns’ and the BBC announcing that they had discovered a colony of flying penguins.
